= the local abundance of corn. I was originally going to boil the corn for dinner tonight, but as soon as I tasted the raw kernels for sweetness, I immediately knew at least my portion was not going anywhere near hot water (like most Chinese, the M and D prefer their vegetables cooked). Spotted some strawberries in the fridge and voila, this strawberry and raw corn salad with a touch of salt, a squirt of lime, and a couple shakes of hot sauce. The strawberries were a nice touch but the unadulterated, succulent sweetness of the corn shone through. Each crunchy kernel unleashed an intensely flavorful juice bursting to the seams with corniness. Delicious, even if that juice is spiked with a little of New York City’s stinky ass. Paired with some roast chicken and sweet potatoes for a very satisfying meal.
